Chris Stratton is a self-taught artist who lives in Peterborough, UK. He lives in a small flat, and uses his kitchen as a studio.
He creates his artwork by placing a flat canvas onto his kitchen table, and applying the the paint directly to the canvas, using in most cases only one brush to develop the image.
He uses traditional easel techniques when finishing some paintings, and prefers to develop his images without the use of preliminary drawings or photographs.
He prefers to develop the image by manipulating the paint using his instinctive imagination, memory of places, and touch.
In doing so, he creates a range of art works themed around seascapes, landscapes, sunsets, and various abstract images.
"I pull the image out of the canvas!"
